Cohosted by Tai Square Art & Aesthetics Association and Tai Architects & Associates, the Third Earth God Temple Student Design Competition has received great support from both architectural professionals and the academia. With 307 entries from 9 countries around the world, on March 4th, 2016, the seven judges have selected three finalists after a rigorous two-stage process.
Based on the idea of “Choose and build your own neighborhood Earth God Temple,” on March 5th, 2016, the hosts invited the representatives of the Temple believers and of the public to collectively rank the three entries through voting with disclosed ballots. The First Prize is awarded to Ryunosuke Akuta, a student from Osaka City University Graduate School of Engineering Architectural Design Studio. In addition the $60,000 (NTD) prize awarded by the hosts and a certificate from the Taichung City Government, Mr. Akuta and his collaborative architect of the entry, Taiwanese architect Chi-Rei Huang, have also been granted the design responsibility for the realization of Dahe Village Earth God Temple of Taichung City.
(Technical University of Vienna Master of Architecture)。
Second prize is awarded to Jui-Hung Weng, an M.Arch I student at SCI-Arc, and Third Prize is awarded to Julia Soto Delgado, an M.Arch student at Technical University of Vienna.
Congratulations to the three winners among the strong pool of competition, and sincere thank you to all the participants and supporters of the event and endeavor. We firmly believe that, with collective effort and support, we can together proposal a suitable new home for the Earth God and Goddess of Dahe Village, build an Earth God Temple of the neighborhood that integrates and becomes part of the local environment, and envision the completed project from the first prize entry to become an icon internationally.
Grateful! Grateful! And Grateful! There are truly too many people we need to express gratitude for, so we thank heaven!
